Seattle Tennis Club

Home to Seattle’s elite, The Seattle Tennis Club has been a cornerstone of Seattle’s culture since it was founded in 1890. When we had the opportunity to be involved with the renovation of the Women’s and Girl’s Locker Rooms we could not have been more excited to be involved with such a local history rich project.

The task at hand was to complete the long overdue renovation of the Women’s and Girl’s Locker Rooms. The overall project was approximately 3,200 square-feet of complete demolition and reconstruction. The scope of this work was complicated in the fact that the club would remain 100% open and functional during this renovation. Furthermore, the Locker Rooms are located on the bottom floor of the club which does not have direct access for materials export or import. Through our site supervision’s expert level of communication and planning, Simmons Construction was able to overcome these site specific obstacles with minimal disruption to daily operations at the club.

As you may image the level of finishes selected would pacify the most discerning of palettes. From hand set mosaic floor tile shipped from overseas to marble tiled showers, the women’s locker feels like an exclusive spa the second that you walk in the door. Not only did we get to show off our skills with tile and solid surface finishes during the construction, we also installed a luxury cedar sauna and applied custom millwork mouldings throughout the space. The combination of the solid materials with the soft warm wood elements blended the design seamlessly. During the renovation Simmons also installed an all new and energy efficient mechanical and electrical system in both Locker Rooms which included a customizable lighting control panel which allows for zoning of light fixtures to capture any mood lighting you would like to achieve. During the project we also installed a floating cloud which was structurally attached to the ceiling and spanned the length of the locker room. This was a great feature to allow for much of the lighting and sound system to be hidden while spanning an exposed concrete ceiling.

This project encompassed almost every division of the construction trades to achieve completion. With tight timelines and often hard to find or b special order materials this project presented it’s fair share of challenges. However, through Simmons Construction’s practices and procedures to ensure organization, communication and constant job tracking the project was completed and an amazing product was turned over to the club that will bring their member enjoyment for the years to come.
